Become a Referee
CYSL is always looking for new referees! Ages 13 and up are welcome. This is a paid position and a great way especially for teenagers to earn money, gain confidence, and give something back to the game we all love. Starting pay is $16 per game. Adults are especially encouraged to become referees.
All new referees are required to attend an entry-level USSF referee course. It consists of approximately 8 hours of on-line training, followed by a 3 hour, in-person field session. Classes are held prior to the spring and fall seasons. There is a $75 annual fee (subject to change by USSF) to become registered with US Soccer. For those 18 and over, there is an additional $30 background check fee. Most of the uniform will be provided by CYSL at no charge (jersey, shorts, whistle, lanyard, red/yellow cards and data wallet). Referees will need to have predominately black shoes and a digital watch with a countdown and/or stopwatch feature. Paragraph
