Jewelry, Casts and Headwear

If the child is considering having their ears pierced, consider waiting until the end of the season.  Exception:  Medic Alert Bracelets

2.         No barrettes or headwear (headbands up to 2 inches are allowed).

3.         Players wearing orthopedic casts, air-splints or metal splints may play if the following is provided:

B.        Written permission from a parent or legal guardian to play with a cast or splint.

C.        Foam padding (min. ½” thick) is wrapped around the entire cast or splint, and the padding is wrapped in an “Ace” type bandage.  The padding must provide adequate cushioning to render to cast of equal or better softness than a bare arm.

D.        Before the game, a CYSL Board member must inspect and give written approval of the padding, which shall be presented to the referee prior to the game.

Referees

1.         The referee’s judgment regarding the actual happenings and occurrences related to the conduct of the game shall not be challenged.

2.         A referee may eject a player for serious foul play, violent conduct or using offensive, insulting or abusive language or gestures, or for any other violation as granted by the Laws of the Game.  The official may also require a coach or parent to leave the playing area.  In cases of refusal, the official may terminate the match.

3.         Referees are not perfect.  Obviously, mistakes will be made.  Comments or complaints should be given in writing to a league official who will forward it to the Executive Director and Referee Coordinator.  Many of our referees are youth who are learning.  Please give them only positive feedback.

4.         With the enormous interest in soccer throughout the community, there is a large demand for more and better referees.  Parents and older teenagers (minimum 14 years old) are encouraged to become referees.

Expectations of Parents and Family

1.         Come and enjoy the game.  Cheer to make all players feel important.

2.         Allow the coach to coach and the players to play.   Both players and coaches will make mistakes.  Offer positive support.

3.         Do not yell at the players, referees or the coaches.  We are role models and should set a good example for our youth.

4.         If you have suggestions regarding coaching, please call the coach privately, not in front of the players, spectators, or during games or practices.

Game Cancellations

Games will be played in LIGHT rain.  Games are cancelled due to extreme weather or unplayable field conditions (CARD determines if the fields are unplayable).

A decision to cancel games will be made by 7:00 a.m. on game day.  A recording will be placed on the league phone and notification placed on the league’s website (www.cyslsoccer.com).  Coaches only are to phone the league and then relay information to team members.

The league normally does not have a make-up game for one rain out.  If there is more than one rain out, schedules may be revised to accommodate all teams and games may be made up according to field conditions and availability.
